Synthesis and Characterization of Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) Derived with LGlutamic Acid and L-Aspartic Acid

Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) is a biocompatible, biodegradable polymer approved by the FDA and EMA, which most widely used in field of health. In this study, PLGA was synthesized primarily from lactide glycolide polycondensation ring-opening polymerization. Then, amino acid derivatives were reaction acids presence 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide (EDC). The polymers PLGA, PLGA-L-glutamic (PLGA-G), PLGA-L-aspartic (PLGA-A). chemical structure these confirmed 1H 13C Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1H NMR NMR), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC). When analyses PLGA-amino observed, an increase number carbonyl carbons around 170 ppm found accuracy supported. addition, when FTIR examined, observing signal amide bond vibration at 1700 cm-1. While typical endothermic thermogram derivative structures observed DSC analysis, it shown that low molecular weight [~5000-6000 Da] GPC analysis.
